Got some quotes today, for a group health Ins. plan for me, wife and otpions for employee insurance. $498.00 a month for me and my wife, not to bad. If we have a baby, it jumps $965.00 getting expensive now. If an employee wants insurance I'm looking at about $150.00, if he/she is married and want a family plan it goes up to a minimum of $666.00 a month. Multiply that by even the minimum $150.00 by 5 guys this summer, and me and the wife are thinking about expanding the family soon thats a pretty good chunk of change, like close to $20,000 in cash. To be honest I dont think I'm going to be able offer insurance for another year. Time to move to Canada:rolleyes:

Yeah that is not bad. When I was working for a consulting company insurance for my wife and I (no kids) was almost 1k a month.

We are looking to go with a new company that will be a little over $400 for the two of us. Is your wife an employee or partner? It is definitely cheaper for two employees (or owners) than employee + one, etc.

Our age (18-29) effected premiums a lot, sorry Rod:) I know I wont be hiring anyone over 65 though, $1,061 for single coverage lol.

Anyone else notice the unlucky combination of numbers in the quote of $666.00 a month the three first numbers seem to have a double meaning of necessary evil.

that is what I was thinking as well, seems cheap.

Get this, my wife works at the hospital part time, and health insurance through them is around $525 a month for us. Now, once she goes full time (this summer) health insurance drops to like $180 a month for us. Bring on the full time baby!!!

Promower,

I believe we are paying around $500 for myself, wife and 1 child. I don't know th exact numbers, my wife does. BUT, we have one policy for my wife and I, and a separate policy for my daughter. Deductibles and out-of-pocket ends up being the same as one policy, but cost was significantly less to put my daughter on policy of her own. Might be worth checking out.

I'm 19, almost 20, and since i did not go to college i am off my parents policy. They 6000 a year to cover me and i am healthy as can be. Health insurance is a joke. But no, i do not want the goverment to step in.

I am hoping when i move out of nj at the end of the year i can find some insurance affordable.
