Well here they are. A couple of pics of trucks, all dressed in Battle gear with nowhere to go! Was playing around at the shop today and had the digital on me so I clicked some pics for ya. Just wish there was some snow on the ground to put them all to work! :)

Nice fleet man! Is that a F250 or F350 the first one on the left? How does it hold up the plow? What size of plow is it? I'm debating if I should buy a new F350 this season for snow-removal cause my F250 have split axles and don't know if it would hold up real well. Got anymore pictures?

Thanks for the comments guys. The green is a new marketing route that we took this year, and yes we do turn a couple of heads with it! Alot of comments on not liking the color and simply why? questions, but it getsthe point across

The truck on the left is a 250 with the split front also. We installed a set of timbrens on it, and she handles the plow just fine. The plow is an 8' but with wings on she is about 10' wide.

I am sure I have pics floating around on one hard drive or another, would just have to post them. Only things left really are trailers, machines, vacuums, mulch blower, and the shop. :)

Paul, Nice fleet. I see on the spreader's it says to stay back 100'. Are people really that stupid to get right behind you when your salting?

Thanks

Abolutely 100% yes!

Just last year alone we were rear ended once. Accused of chipping a window. And BEST of all... Had one guy drive up my @ss so fast, got the whole hood of his car covered in sand. Once he realized I was sanding he went to fly around me and smashed the car driving next to me. He pushed the car into oncomming traffic, and he then spun out in front of me. Dropped the plow and hit the breaks hard, and just missed hitting this guy! Then he has the nuts to say it was my fault and that he was calling the cops. Told him go right ahead. Cop got there, and he tells the cop that I salted him on purpose! I simply said "I have an amber beacon, and a sign that CLEARLY states to keep back. IF he was 100' back, then how the hell did he get sand on his hood... if the spreader only spreads 30'?". You wouldn't believe the stuff you see in a snow storm.

Wow, that just totally blows my mind that someone can be that stupid. I mean they tell you when it starts snowing to give the local & DOT guys room and you think IF they have sense enough to do that they would stay out of the way of commercial plowers as well. He should be lucky you did'nt hit him after he hit the other car. Did the cop laugh at that guy when he started b!tching about the sand?

Actually, I am lucky I didn't hit him. If I would have hit him it would have automatically put me at a % at fault also. Then I would have been really pissed. It was bad enough that I had to eat a wheel alignment, and change out a rim from hitting the curb to avoid this guy. Because I damaged the rim and alignment from "avaiding" and accident, I could not put in a claim against him because there was no impact with his vehicle. Laws are screwd up man. As you can tell by the reflective signs, DOT tape, and warning lights I just like to CYA. :gunsfirin

I really like the green plows and sanders. All you see around here is yellow or red, all the companies blend into one another and you cant tell them apart driving down the road. I think that people will associate your name whenever they see a green plow or sander, which is a good advertising gimmick.

Don't really have any good shop pictures off hand, and most equipment is packed away in the trailers for the winter. Here's some pics I did find. Mulch blower, and some pics of the outside of the shop. The truck and trailer in the pictured are painted our colors now. :)

How do you like that blower?

What brand is it?

If you dont mind how much did it cost?

Is it really more productive? you still have 2 guys on site, one shoveling into the blower, and one blowing the mulch....seems like you are handling the matierial too may times.... maybe just me but i put 3 guys out can spread about 30-35 yards per day using the old 8 cu ft wheelies and pitch forks.... trying to justify buying a Finn blower....but all that shoveling in to the machine seems like alot of work.

On the other hand a 6-10 yard hopper would be ideal for us, but those machines run about 75k????

the 1.5 yard machine is about 40k....

maybe i am just crazy....

anyways...how do you like that blower? seems it will only blow as fast as one can shovel it on to the conveyor...

It is an early 90's Finn, I'm not exact on the year but I know the Finn 302 replaced it. This is our first blower, so we started out small and will work our way up from there. It beats wheelbarrows hands down. We load the truck and the hopper before we head out so there's material ready to go without shoveling. I also made a chute that goes from the back of the truck into the hopper on the conveyor. The guy at the truck only has to tilt the bed, and make sure the mulch slides out. I have gone out with 1 other guy and we have done 20yds in 1hr. I am sure we could have got one or 2 more in, but the truck only holds 20yds legally.

As far as handling the material more, thats not true. Just think of the hopper as a wheelbarrow. Your pretty much cutting out all of the steps after the barrow is full. payup

Nice looking setup! I like the green. Very different and unique. You look to have a great bunch of equipment. We had a Finn 808 truck mount blower. We loved it. Worked great! I just sold it in October to liquidate some assets so we could start construction on our new facility. I plan on buying another very soon. Good luck this year.

P.S. Here WAS our blower

Thanks Chris! I would love to have a truck mount unit, but just wasn't in the budget. I also wasn't sure which way the investment would go, so we started off small.

We are trying some different appraoches to marketing this year, one being the plows... with great results so far. Our next campaign is beginning the second week of Feb. and our mulch one probably March 1st. Hopefully things pan out how we would like, and will look into getting a larger unit. Good luck with the new facility, we better see some pics once it gets underway! payup

Viseras - We bought our unit used. It had 200 hours on it. We paid $50K.
I used it for 3.5 years and sold it for $50K. It only had 600 hrs on it when we sold it. If your looking to get a new one think about dropping $75K w/o the truck. Sorry to hijack!

we do like 2000 yards a year....but i cant justify spending that kinda money for a machine that is used for 2-3 months a year:dizzy:

cgland

We did about 4000 yards per year. 60% was for our Spring mulchings and 40% was for installs and topdressing lawns. We kept it fairly busy, but by no means was it an everyday machine.

If they come out with one that doubles as a hydro seeder i would pay 50-100K easily....but that doesnt loook like any time soon
