Time table for Tiff to take hold

We are building several baseball fields. If we sod Tiff at the end of Feb or first of March will it take hold enough to play games on at the end of April? We are having a very mild winter in TX. Temp today was 77.

Soil temps are the key, need to be above 65 for the tiff to be actively growing. I think March games are too soon myself. But it should be over-seeded with rye and the rye would root and hold by then. Just thinking out loud. What kind did you get? 419?

ideally you want an entire season to pass before it gets played on, however that will never be the case unless you have spare fields to use in the time being.

We could go ahead and have a dirt infield this year if we need to. We would rather have grass if we could. We havent bought yet but will probably get a hybrid TX bent Tiff.
