Wanting to go legit - need university law info to educate self

The title says it all. I already know how to go about the process, which is quite simple once you locate the forms, etc. What I need know is how to run an LLC properly (agents, officers, minutes, etc.) so that it truly serves the purpose of protecting the agent. . .what advice (besides pay a lawyer) do ya'll have? I'm really looking to educate myself with the same info lawyers study. Anyone gone to any law school? Anyone know an online university law website with good info?

My sister is a lawyer and I was accepted at the same law school she graduated from but like a dumbazz I didn't go. As to running an LLC in nearly every state there are no "officers" as an LLC can be made up of only 1 person if you want or more if you want and they are all called "members" with the main person being the "Managing Member" unlike a INC where the main person is the CEO/President. Also LLC's in most states do not require board meetings and minutes as do INC.'s.

Yup, you beat me to it, nolo is not what the lawyers may study from, but it should get you all the info you need to be legal and protected. And you will have an easier time understanding it. Plus, you can find alot of their books online in .pdf format if you look hard enough (hint).

There are many many books on this topic. Go to your local library too. Having it in book format might help you better with a step by step.

Yes, just about the entire Nolo library is available in .pdf. I would suggest checking them out, and buy the ones that you feel will be usefull to you in paper form. Or just stop in your local bookstore and scan through them. You can find all the file sharing programs you need at download.com
