Fertilizer & Shrubs

On the subject of optimizing soil for turf by having soil-tests done and applying fertilizer on a regular basis, I was wondering how this affects other plants. I guess if you give your lawn the best conditions possible, how does it affect evergreens needing an acidy soil, or shrubs, flowers and desidious trees, likely to have different soil requirements of their own?

actually any fertilizer that you put down will have an acidifying effect on your soil. that is why it is imporant to lime every year as far as your regular plants go just try to keep weed killers and other pesticides away from them. um... what else? yeah thats about it i think.
