I have a friend that is getting out of the lawn business. He has offered to sell me his Scag 28 hp water cooled Kaw. 60" cut mower in very good condition withh 650 hours on it for $5800. Is this a good deal? He wants to sell it now and I was thinking of buying it and selling it this spring when the market was better and try to make a few hundred bucks. Not sure what model it is but the frame is about the same size as my 27 hp Lazer Z (little longer, wider and lower to the ground than the Lazer). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

28 Horsepower? Maybe A 27 horsepower Kawasaki. I don't think Scag ever made a 28 horsepower.

That is still not a bad price. I would buy it for $5,500. I would but it on ebay or something, because you could get more for that come this spring. Good Luck and nice find!

Sorry about the misprint, I'm sure it was a 27 hp Kaw. Thanks for the input. I should proof read my threads.

$5,000.00 is about an average price for what you have described. Buy the Scag, sell the Lazer Z, just my opinion:p :p

Right but how often do Ztr's break, NOT OFTEN, it's usually belt hear or there esp. at 650Hrs. He's got a few hundred hours of trouble free use before the rebuilding process starts.
