I've used (rented) the one your talking about and it worked very well.I did about 12 acres total. The wheels with the spoons on all move independently from one another so gradual turns are possible without tearing. This is the only large aerator I've used, so I can't compare it against any others, but for the most part all others I've seen look very similar in design and construction.

I have a mill creek core aerator 60" pull behind. I think it is great. I pull it with my Exmark Lazer 25hp Kohler. I plugged a yard the other day that had around 60,000 sf. It took me around 2 hrs for the aerating. Mine cost me a little over $800. The independent turning spoons work really great without tearing much turf.
