View Full Version : New Stick Edger

Looking to buy a new stick edger. I like the stihl line, does anybody have one?
The stihl FC 110 model with a straight shaft. The dealer wants $429.00 + tax.
Good buy or is something else out there a better buy. I will use the edger on
25-30 lawns all summer long so I need something thats going to last.
Thanks for all the input. Chris

I've been using an fc85 for a couple a years now. I have worn out several blades but every thing else is original. Works great. Edges one handed as fast as you can walk.

Is that a straight shaft or curved ? Not finding the FC85 in the book. They
have the FC55 75 and 110.

Its a straight shaft. I don't think they are making the 85's any more since its a 2 cycle and they are going to the 4 cycle's for emission reasons.

We have a Stihl FC 75 curved shaft stick edger. It does a great job and is very reliable. We run mainly Stihl equipment and we bought the FC 75 because they quit making the FC85. We also have a FS 110 but we still prefer traditional two-cycle equipment.

I and a friend of mine who is also in the business both have Stihl FC85's (the 2 stroke model). We both agree that they're the best piece of equipment we own. Mine is over 3 years old and is still strong enough to cut through concrete (well, almost!). Seriously, the thing won't die, it still has the original plug and air cleaner and I've never adjusted the carb. Hey, if it ain't broke don't fix it! By the way , I do over 60 lawns per week and EVERY drive and walk gets edged EVERY week.

I have the FC110 and it is simply awesome. Lot's and lot's of power.

The 110 replaced the 85, I own an 85 and its great, everyone that has the 110 says its more powerful

I too use an Stihl FC85. It is the only one I've owned, the only one I've used, so cannot make any comparison. I also have an FS85 string trimmer (identical power head as FC85), and it has many times the use of the edger. The engine always has run well on both.
