Is it ok to do that? Will the regular low lift blades discharge better?

high lifts discharge better.

I can't figure out what regular low (standard) lift blades are good for.

GEO, I believe it is related to turf areas that have evidence of sand in it.

Sand, tall weeds and very small tight areas.

That or areas that have thin turf and a dry environment. High lifts cause one hell of a dust cloud on those properties.

It's definately better to use hi lifts side discharging in most conditions. We tend to have problems with the standard lift blades not sucking up the grass that the front wheels mash down.

thanks, i won't bother sharpening all the free sets of regular blades my dealer gave me. How would high lifts compare to magnum gators in mulch kit and side discharge situations?

I used standard lift blades for about half a day, they suck, no lift and they don't throw the grass very far which means poor dispersal.
