That is one hell of a deal even if you have to put a couple bucks into it before the season starts up. Also there are no grease fittings at the tracks, there fully sealed bearings. Make sure to check the tension on the tracks if not it will tear up the inside teeth and then possibly rub against the inside of the frame.

Sweet deal man.

Have you got any maintenance tips? I believe you have a tx420 right? How tight do the tracks need to be? I absolutely love the controls on this thing... I have no idea why they do it differently for the wheel units.

I could not believe he was letting it go so cheap... he could have easily sold it for 8k on ebay. I used buy-it-now before someone else did. Everything seems to run great.

Just make sure to grease all of the fittings at least every other day that you use it, if not every day. I try to keep my tracks adjusted to 2 7/8" from the inside of the black adjuster box to the back edge of it, if that makes sense. Also if you do not stay up on keeping the inside of the tracks free of caked up mud then it will take you some time with a pry bar to get the dried mud out of every little nook and cranny in there. A pressure washer will become your best friend if you intend to use this thing in the mud at all. Also make sure to keep a couple of air filters around your shop and also at least one extra foam pre cleaner. It is amazing at how dust collects in the air filters even when your not around and dust.

Good luck and just let me know if you have any other questions.

I am not quite following your adjustment advice. Maybe you can show me on the pic. How much are new tracks for these machines? Also can you tell me if I have the standard bucket or light materials bucket? Do you plan on getting a forkster for you unit? Thanks for your help!

You have to slide the end of the tape measure into the black tube till it stops. Then see how many inches deep it goes until it is meeting with the back open end of the black tube. It should be rite around 2 7/8" for the proper tension. I forgot the check my tension at 100 hours and the right side track became loose and started rubbing the frame. I took the track off and turned it around and now it is working fine and does not want to walk off the outside of the cages.

Not to sound rude but what would someone want this small of a machine for?

The bucket might be the light materials bucket but I cant get a good look at it from the pictures on ebay. When you get the machine measure the bucket and if it is 48" wide then its the biggest bucket that Toro sells which is the light materials bucket.

Oh yeah I bought the stand on platform when I bought my Dingo and it is great. The only real gripe I have about it is it sits to low to the ground and wants to drag to easily if you dont have enough weight on the front. Also since it is all aluminum it can get bent up quite easily if you back into a stump or something solid, I have had to bend mine out a couple times but now it kinda looks like crap but it still works. I am 6'2" tall and it only took a couple of days to get used to leaning down some to reach the controls when riding on the platform. It does not bother me now and I really dont even notice it anymore.

You obviosuly have never used one. For one, great for tight, small areas that aren't were usually only accesible by man power not machine power.

Thanks for the info Justin... that really helps. I guess I am going to bite the bullet and buy a platform or I might get one fabricated if I find the time. I cannot understand what would make these things cost $400.

I can't wait to get an auger and a harley rake for this thing.

to have a good one fabricated, it would cost you more than $400.00..

LW, that is one sweet little ride you have there! Put a trencher on there and you could start doing irrigation work. The last one I used was a stand on Dingo ( about the same but the controls are different ). We used it to trench in some drainage pipe for a customer. Easy job until we got into all the tree roots from the trees that he had removed 2 yrs ago and forgot to tell me about. I wont forget to ask anymore!

Lawnworks

Yeah I just rented a trencher attachment yesterday and am just finishing up a system today. I could not justify 20k on buying a dingo, but I can justify 5k! I will get some action pics uploaded.

Gosh, I love ebay. I bought a solid Harley Pro 6 for 1500

Lawnworks
02-14-2006, 07:16 PM
Yeah it is really the only place to buy a used harley rake for a decent price. Dealers around here are trying to rape me! I know they must be making 2000-2500 on those things. I found a place in NC that would sell an M4 for $4900, the dealer near me wants over 6k!

Oh yeah, I agree. I actually used a T6 today. There is nothing better/easier than a harley grade.

Well since I run mostly Toro's its just natural that I am dying to own one myself.

Just took a trip to L.A. and thats like the main piece of equipment they run out there, cuz they have no room for large equipment.

That would look good in my trailer.

How do you like using em? I have heard that they are underpowered with some attachments. Is this true?

Lawnworks
02-15-2006, 11:53 PM
They can't compete on big jobs, but man they are so so nice for renovations, irrigation, planting, and really giving a nice finishing grade. The best part is that they are so light. They don't need a 10,000 rated trailer to pull them around. I don't really think they are underpowered. I think it is more of a weight issue. At 2000lbs there is going to be a limit. A dingo sure would compliment that new tractor you just got.

A bobcat and dingo would be really nice. But only one toy at a time!
