what do you do with them they have brown tips from the winter so do I still cut off all the foliage or just the brown tips

we usually just cut it all the way down in late winter to early spring and have always had it come back with no problems..hope this helps

cut em' back ....like 3-4" above the ground ....atleast that's the practice down here ....
Before they start pushing the new growth, we put a 21" push mower on the highest setting and mow them down.

Don't touch them now. New growth has probably already started and if you cut now you will cut the new growth and they won't look right when full grown. This job needs to be done by late Feb. (at least in GA. it does). We have some customers that insist on leaving them alone and letting the old growth just do away. And some insist on cutting in Feb.. Either way they all seem to look good by summer. Personally I think cutting each year is best.
