What do I need to hire an employee?

I would like to hire one or two 18 to 21 year old helpers this summer. I will supervise them and peovide all driving and transportation this year. If I use them 25 hrs a week each. What do I need to do to be legal. I figure Ill need workers comp and I hope to use 1099 for taxes. What else do I need?

Forget the 1099 for taxes. They are your employees, not contract labor.
I suggest that as well as workers comp that you also get some general liability insurance. You are responsible for their mistakes, you can get $1mil GL for about $600 a year, cheap insurance if you have to need it
