i have 2001 8ft bed ext cab diesel 2500 dodge truck with a rebuilt tranny now it blew 2 months ago now this past thruday the rear blew for the 2nd time does this sound normal it has 100,000 miles on it just a baby i have easy dump insert in the bed and pull a 8*16 landscape trailer full of equimp? we use ele brakes kit .

can any one help me out !!!

i have some people say this truck is a lemon i have other say it just wear and tear from the easy dump and trailer i dont what to belive this anymore nothing but problems from day one brakes and tires every 10,000 miles so bad this stinks.

By the rear, are you reffering to the rear differential? Is this an open diff or LSD? Either way, whoever did the rebuild/replacement has not set preload or shimmed it up properly. Please clarify a little...

yes i belive it is the rear diff it was a brand new one put in by dodge 1st time 1-2 years ago

If you want a heavy duty tranny get a ATS or a Suncoast performance transmission.

no no i need to get or replace the rear diff a dana 60 4.10 with a rear locker

How do you know the rear diff just blew again? Noise, grinding, ??? Might try Ebay. www.thedieselstop.com these guys may know where you can get replacement parts/complete rear end.

it is in the shop on the lift right now i have a price to get it rebuilded for 2200 it a dana60 4.10 det locker rear :walking:

Do you need a ring and pinion or what? Do you want a whole new axle...be more specific, what are they rebuilding for 2000 :confused:


They have parts for dana 60's

A Dana 60 is a durable axle. Dodge truck axles are all set up with posi units. If yours has a Det. Locker, it was probably put in after market. If a dealer put the locker in, chances are they didn't do the job right to begin with. That axle should have never given you any problems.

P.S. Are you sure it's a Dana 60?? My 3/4 Dodge Cummins has a Dana 70.

You might want to ask around at the Turbo Diesel Registry. http://www.tdr1.com . In case you haven't found it, its the best source for Dodge Cummins trucks. Tons of info there. They also have a parts area.
