well i just landed a job, real big one for me. customer wants enough deleware stone to cover 1900 sq. ft, plus weed guard(fabric) about 2 hrs to cut the beds(with a shovel) this is just to edge the beds. also replace 8 dead azealas(cost me $14 each) and add 5 hosta, 5 daylilly, 5 lillyturf(cost me about $10 ea.) i figured on 19 ton of stone, need to be wheelbarrowed about 100 ft. let me know what u guys would charge
I never did a job that big..but I did do a clients home with half inch brown river rock about 450 sq ft. I charged him 85.00 per cy of rock plus 20.00 for delievery and 45.00 per hr to lay the rock my cost for the rock is 55.00 out the door.my final bill was 161.00 for the job.. as for the plants add all your cost for the plants x 66% plus 1 hr labor for 8 med plants, plant 4 per hour for large etc.
labor would be per hour 45.00 hope this helps....

My advice...rent a machine, 19 tons is alot of stone...pricing, I would probably go in around somewhere around 70.00 per hour with a machine min. one 8 hour day plus around 500.00 for the plant material(including one year garuntee). I don't know your price on the stone per ton/ yard. I would go with the dewitt weed block, not the cheap plasticy crap...

Definately rent a machine. If access is bad, look into one of the mini skids such as dingo, kanga or ramrod. Like Fireman said, 19 tons is alot to move by hand.

One word of advice on a mini-skid loader, unless you are familiar with it's operation you will be spending as much time getting a feel for it as you are actually being productive, if you are comfy with these machines they are an asset otherwise I prefer the kiss method(keep it simple stupid) it is easier on me that way..lol..seriously, try to get in there with a dig-it...imho there is no simpler machine and it doesn't do as much damage to turf as any type/size skidsteer.

for the plants, double the price which comes to 544.00 but don't double the price you get, use the retail price and use your discount to make some extra money. If you can get a machine in there do it. like Firman said I would get around 75.00 with a machine for 8 hours, plus labor to cut in the beds and lay the fibric at like 30.00 a man hour.
plants (charge retail)- 600.00
spreadin the stone with machine- 600.00
labor(edging,fabric,setup,cleanup)say like 4 man hours- 120
Total-$1320.00 (plus the cost of stone and fabric)
