What kind of help/advise can I give a customer who has
a lot of squirrel damage in her lawn? i.e. holes, uneven terrain

Option 1: Buy a life-trap
Option 2: Adopt a dog

Option 3: a sunny afternoon, porch chair, bag of birdseed and a .22

Oh yes, forgot about that one.
Sorry Sherry, don't mean to poke fun at your problem; I guess it would depend on the area. If the property is somewhat secluded one could put out bait a little ways away from the house and keep the squirrels busy that way - drawback being that you'll also attract all kinds of other critters.
When I lived in town a retired couple across the street made it their obsession to rid the area of squirrels, the man placed live traps in his backyard and would release the captured animals across town.
I think he caught 100 squirrels in the first year and there was no relief in sight - so I guess this wouldn't work too well?
Dogs will keep 'em at bay, but now you have a bigger mess in the yard than you'd have with a squirrel.
I have them in my yard and there's no damage done to anything, maybe you'll just have to put with them for a while......
