View Full Version : Scag Turf Tiger 52' Advantage Deck

I have just about made up my mind about purchasing this new Scag mower it's a Scag Turf Tiger 52' Advantage cutting deck with a 27hp kohler. I chose this mower over the Exmark, and I'd like to hear from other Scag owners to see if I made the right decision. I think I have. I put down a deposit and I pick it up on Monday. It comes with a strpier kit, Clam shell dump from the seat, trailer hitch, and the hurricane mulching system. This is my first Scag and I hope it wont be my last.

if only going with the 52 deck, why not the wildcat?, I heard the clamshell is so so. I heard the 3 bags were the way to go. I am only saying this because i was ready to pull the trigger on the wildcat. Scags are very stout.

ya if your not cutting huge properties where the machince is running all day why not the wildcat, i dont see where the watercooled would be that neccesary. as far as the bagger goes we have the 3 bagger system on a turf tiger and i like that better than the clamshell as far as getting the debris into a can or the back of the truck

His mower only has the 27hp kohler which is air-cooled

You can't get a water cooled in a 52 inch deck,he has got the bigger pumps, shaft driven, and the better seat than the wildcat not much more money than the cat the resale will be there.

We have two Scag Tiger Cubs and they are built to last. The only thing we have replace is a clutch on one and just regular preventive maintenance. I think we are going to sell one of the cubs this year and get a Turf Tiger with a 52 deck. I would get the Turf Tiger over the Wildcat because of what Turf Doctor said, also the lower center of gravity, the larger fuel tank and wider wheel base does better on hills. I like my Cubs but the Turf Tigers handle hill much better from my experience on them.

I bought a 48" Tiger Cub for home use last fall. I like the Scag because it's so easy to work on. It's tough as a box of rocks, too. I added the 3-bag grass catcher and high lift blades. I'm afraid to drive it on my driveway, it might suck the concrete up!

I have a tiger cub with a 52" deck and the three bag system. I love it. I fits well with the size range of the lawns I do. The only reason I didnt buy the turf tiger was the wieght. Especially on those damp days you can leave some nice ruts on a customers lawn. I think the wildcat is a good deal . They were runnning a special on them last year.

We usually don't talk about things that work the way they should. We just go about mowing, which is the way it should be.

I've got a 5yr. old Tiger w/ 52" deck and it has never let me down. :clapping:
Can't help you on the newer deck.

we have a wildcat with the 52 and tiger cub with the 61" wildcat is only 1 season old and the tuiger cub is 3 season old. we did have a problme with the bearing on the split steel pullies coming apart....

only side discharge. other thanthe pullies, no problems....

I had a pump go out after 4yrs. on my 52" but this little mower has made me many 10's of thousands of dollars. I always thought I wanted a 61" but after test rides I think the 52 has a better cut.

Me and my brother-in law own Scags and exmarks(we bought exmarks first). The scags will mow hill sides far better than the exmarks. The scags will cut just as clean as the exmarks if the deck is level. Iv'e spent more money on repairs on the exmarks(I have a wheel barrel full of old blades and belts). My brother-in-law had electrical problems with his lazer. When the dealer couldn't fix it, he had to hot wire it to keep it running. So if you ask us Scag, makes the best all around commercial mower.

Local dealer here priced the wildcat 52 inch lc kawasaki $7800 2006 model.

02-28-2006, 02:17 PM
there is some wiggle room with that price. I get GSA pricing and I cant divulge the exact price, but with my 05 wildcat with the kawasaki and 52" deck I spent about a grand less than the 7800 your dealer quoted you...

The 52" Turf Tiger is an excellent mower. We bought a 52" and then a 61" the year after. The 61" got a lot more done and was a better mower for the same money, so unless you have a space issue, either on the trailer or on some of your properties I would go with the 61" STT. Also, unless your are doing 80+ lawns a week you can get by with the wild cat or tiger cub for less money.

We cut 80 + weekly,we have found the 52 inch decks more productive we can use this size on all we cut, there is times a 61 inch would have got us home faster, but instead of hauling 3 mowers down the road we stay with 2.
