This is my first post. Just joined the site a couple of days ago to read and learn. I recently got 1,000,000.00 gl and 6800.00 on equipment for 600.00 a year. However, I will not be doing any snow plowing. I don't know how the rate I got compares to others.

look for an insurance broker...this way you can shop a few companies at once.

I was quoted about two weeks ago: 1,000,000 gen. liability ins. and 12,000 in equip. just less than 600/year.

1 mill GL with 200,000+worth of tools listed with them (but not all on one truck). No plowing-- $860 a year
But I am 44 years old with a good credit rating, never any claim on any insurance, locks and alarm on storage lot. That may make a difference but I still think it is high
I am with the Hartford and they also hold worker comp, and 2 of my investment properties.

My personal home and auto is with Statefarm and they will not cover any business with less than 2 years profit. (yet they cover all 7 of my car/trucks, business or not) They also will not cover any of my rentals. I have Erie for other rentals and they were higher for my business by about $200

Wow, State Farm is tearning you a new one there. I have 1mil GL and 15k worth of equipment along with a 01 and 02 GMC truck under full coverage and I only pay 1800 a year. The first year I started out with only 1mil GL and I still only paid 250 a year.

is this for gl, equipment, and commercial auto too? I pay about 1500 for commercial auto on my 2002 F350 with 1,000,000 liability, and another 1400 per year for 1,000,000 general liability and 25,000 in equipment. Mine includes snowplowing.

Shop,Shop,Shop!!! be carefull, some ins co's only cover residential & not commercial. ask lots of questions. Try National Grange, find a broker that handles more than one company.

Yep, National Grange is BY FAR the cheapest I have found. Don't know about their service because I have never filed a claim with them.

I just recieved my lowest quote.

It is 1 Mil in Liability, 36k in equiment and PLPD for the 1ton dump truck.

It is running 2,210.14 for the year, with $773.55 down. The rest is required quarterly.

The other guy wants 2,714.68 for the same coverage, 679.00 down.

Ouch.

Tim

That first quot is so far out in outerspace that it can't even be right. I would tell that agent that there must be some sort of misunderstanding or something.

Billz

What do you pay Runner? I have a 2002 F350 with 1,000,000 coverage, and full commercial auto coverage. and 1,000,000 business liability, and 25,000 inland marine coverage for my equipment. I pay 1578 per year for the commercail auto, 1200 for the business liability, and another 250 for the equipment...that totals $3,000 for the year in insurance, and I only do about 100,000 in sales for a year. Is that too high?
