Does anyone here have a 4.3l V6 chevy..
i have a 1994 Chevy k1500... its the W/T and i want to pull like a 14' trailer. now... can the V6 do that or is it going to die when i am on the uphill. i got that 5 speed manual. umm.. i dont know what else will help you.. its bascially all stock... no rust at all somehow...

As long as the motor is functioning correctly you should be fine.:) You won't be winning any races, but it'll make it.

Open trailer will be fine. Enclosed will be a little slow.
Do you have brakes. Much more important

I have a 93 4.3 chev and pull a 6x12 tandem just fine. Its all in how you use the gas. I could do it with a 4 cyl. if done right! not recommended though!

It will pull it,stopping is the problem most of the board will tell you by experience get brakes on your trailer.

I own a 1993 Chevy 4.3v6 1500 and pull a 7x16 open trailer pretty easily. My trailer loaded is around 3000 lbs. I get about 12 mpg. I could probally use a little more power but for now, it works ok. I can definately tell when I stop and take off, that I'm pulling a trailer.

You should have no problem, just remember, stay within the GCWR in your manual for towing. Load the trailer so weight is evenly distributed, slightly forward of the trailer axle, so you have the proper tongue weight. Brakes are very important so check them out, flush the brake fluid if it hasn't been done in the last 2 years, change the trans. fluid and even the rear end. And of course normal engine maintenance. Keep the tires properly inflated for the loads you're carrying on both the truck & trailer. Also remember it's not going to pull well loaded so use the gears to get the power needed, don't lug the engine and don't expect to use 5th as you normally would. Cheers on starting out!

yea i figured as much.. It has 3.73.. it says 5000 lbs in the book.. there will be no highway driving. I will just have to remember to make sure about the braking thing. I have replaced the master cylinder with a bigger one so it has acaully helped out majorly.. chevy's did have a problem with not enough space or something where it cant build pressure. So best thing to do is maybe even go 7x14 with trailer braking system.. My main thing is who here has expieriece with the truck acaully pulling. My engine was replced 3 thousnad miles ago.. so im not worried about anythign wrong with her...

Will hurt a little, but if turned off not too much. Now read this carefully
Your truck is rated to pull 5000# ONLY if the trailer has brakes. You NEED brakes on that trailer. with a load under hurried stop you truck will NOT stop it. Only the car in front of you will stop it.

yea.. well good thing is i havnt gotten my new trailer yet..
But whatever i get is going to be a dual axle trailer so it will have brakes..
I am just wondering if i should just sell this thign for like 3k and get somethign else stronger soon....

haha.. nice.. i truely thinking of just kinda overkilling it and goign like with the 93-97 F-350 styled PS Diesel... Reg. Cab 8 foot bed.. That has got to be my favorite truck by far.. either that or like a 2001 ford f-150 wit a 5.4l in her for sale near me for 9k with 99k miles on her

I would recommend at least a 3/4 ton truck..
