View Full Version : Prices about right ?

Hi guys, i went and priced some mowing equipment today and was wondering if it was about right ? (meaning what they sell for), there was only one dealer in my area so i went there, there are some other dealers but there about a hour and half away.

These were the prices i got, (was just pricing various pieces)

$399.99 - Stihl Br-550
$2599.99 - Scag 36" WB
$2599.99 - Scag 32" WB
$2519.99 - 13/32 KAW Toro
$399.99 - Stihl BR-550
$279.99 - FS80R Trimmer
$329.99 - FS100RX
$219.99 - ECHO SRM-251E

So the question is which brand should i go with for those who have used them ? Stihl or Echo ? I did notice Echo was cheaper but not sure if it was as good as Stihl.

Which brand would be better Scag or Toro ? The ones i priced were walk-behinds and if im not mistaken they had belts on the side, the toro was a KOHL brand engine. Im not sure why the 32/36" are the same price.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I heard the belt drive walk behinds will slip when they get wet.
I used all echo power tools. I like them. I would buy either echo or stihl depending on who is a better dealer for parts and service.

What equipment does the dealer push more? What does he stock more of? Does he stock a good amount of parts for those brands as well?

There is a very small Exmark section, a medium sized Stihl/Echo section.

There mowers are pretty much mixed together (no section for toro, etc).

From what i understood on the sales tag is that they service the mowers for the warranty (although i could be wrong) but they do stock plenty of parts. I have purchased some parts for a Wal-Mart mower i purchased back in 1998.

I asked what brand they would recommend and they told me there all the same (in quality) so they really didnt try to push me off to one brand, however i did notice echo was the cheapest priced.

So is $2519.99 - 13/32 KAW Toro a good price ? I dont want to overpay alot since i know sometimes dealers jack up the prices. The only WB mowers they have are Scag/Toro.

I have 2 Stihl trimmers, 1 Stihl chainsaw, and 1 Stihl BR550 blower. I use a 23 HP 52 inch cut Exmark Lazer Z AS. I love every peice of equip I have. Those prices seemed to be pretty close. Try to do a search on line for product ratings and prices. I think consumer digest has this info.
