What is the CAB AXLE measurement that is the most important number we need so if you have a 60 cab axle a 9' bed is max if it has a 84 cab axle 12' is max if you have 108 cab axle 14-16 bed.
Cab axle is the back of the cab to the centerline of the rear axle. The rule of thumb is 60-40 so 60% of your load has to be forward of the rear axle.
I imagine the truck is prolly a 60CA so a 9' flatdeck or Mason dump is the longest you can go without major over hang.

We had 3 162" beds. You can get a 14 on there, but, a 12 is more suited. The 14 will leave you with an tremendous overhang that if you are not careful how you load, will overload your back axle without even trying. The other issue is turning radius. A 162" F-550 will not turn as tight as a 208" GM 6500 series. So, if you need to get a tight turn out of that truck, you'de best learn how to back up without hitting anything.

You do have to watch the DOT will stop you if you have a long deck with a heavy load on it and your not 60-40. I have hauled quite a few overlength loads that were not legal like hauling 24' wood beams on a 12' deck. I live in a rural area you can get away with that in the city where things are tight and cramped no way.
Some loads I have had extra power steering because the front wheels are really light and you pretty much steer with the brakes
The older F-550s don't steer sharp they need a football field to turn I haven't tried a new F-550 with the coil spring front suspension supposidly it turns sharper.
If you are going to put a dump bed onto this truck you really don't want to put a box or bed longer than 11' on a 84 CA truck and a 9' box is long enough for a 60 CA truck.
With a dump you have unsupported overhang where as with a non dumping body the over hang is supported with frame extensions.
