pine straw on top of seed after renovation?

I have heard to put straw on top of the seed after job is complete. What is penn mulch? How much would I need for about 10,000 sq. ft? :confused:

never heard of putting pine straw down on seed but have put regular straw down. Penn mulch is shredded newspaper and fertilizer compressed into a pellet. when water hits the pellets it starts breaking down and covering new seeded area, make the area look like it was hydroseeded. Very pricey, I believe a bag covers maybe 300 sq ft, at 9.00 a bag, don't know about where your at but its a lot cheaper here to straw after seeding.
