Where do you guys like to eat when you are mowing if you do eat? I stop at home to eat or bring a lunch after I relized how expensive it was to eat $ubw@y everday. Do you guys do the same?

I usully don't eat much during the day, fruits, Subway, or other local sandwich shops. I like Atlanta Bread also.

I'm with awm on this one. i usually just dont eat. I get my coffee at 8 am sharp every day. (latte for those of you whom are coffee fluent, 20 oz triple with a flavor, or a 16 oz double w/flavor)

That usually holds till dinner or a midnight snack. Oh and my pack of cancer a day helps as well. IF i do stop then it is two delux burgers at DQ or some greasy food from a local gas station. No more than once a month on the grease though. YUCK!

No fast food places for us either, we eat at resturants and get a good meal. It's about the same price too.

I usually eat at Subway, Quiznos, or somewhere with a buffet like Pizza Hut. My crew wears company clothing (T-shirt with North American Turf on the Pocket) and I park where everyone can see my truck. You would be suprised at the business you can pick up over the lunch hour. I try to time it when the Doctors and banker go to lunch. Most of them seem to hate doing yard work and will hire you at the drop of a hat.

Usually I pack a lunch... guys are not supposed to take off at lunch ( applys mostly to the landscape construction guys)there is know way they can go to a resturant, order, eat, and be back working in 30 minutes. Maintenance crews are always around fast food joints so they can do as they please.

At $5 per day (conservitave) for munchies at a shop, 5 days per week, 32 weeks per season, Totals $800.00. I can pack a heck of a lot of lunch for $800.00. I'll generally have lunch out once per month, and it is usually a meeting.

Another dollar saving tip. If you drink Gatoraide, buy it at Wal Mart in dry form. Then get yourself some of those 1 quart bottles, and before you leave in the morning, fill the bottle with the correct amount of powder, but no water. Later in the day, take water from your cooler, fill the bottle, shake, and a cool quart of Garotaide for $.30 instead of the $2 that they get at the quickie mart. Not to mention the time savings. That saves me almost $300 per year, when compared with buying a bottle at the quickie mart.

I pack a lunch, same turkey and cheese sandwich every day. I keep a large bag of chips in the pickup - eat what I need each day. I take iced tea (mixed from powder) in 40 oz peanut butter jars. On warm days, I take four of those, plus a 20 oz water bottle - all in two coolers. Also, I have an apple every day for lunch. When working to 8 or 9 p.m. I eat a granola bar at 6:00 or 6:30, helping me over until 9:00 or 9:30 dinner.

I've learned the hard way that I can only be effective if I eat right. I never take breaks, other than 20 minutes for lunch, and rides in the pickup between jobs. But, after 4-5 hours, I need to eat! Loss of energy, headache, etc...

I find a nice shade tree, or just the pickup endgate for lunch time. None of those ACed places for me - warm/hot, then cold, then warm/hot, does not work. Stay outside all day. I'm almost 60, and have to take care of the old body, or I'm out of business!

At lunch time I look like the dude on the "ZIMA" commercial, plus I smell like a goat. I hit the drive thru if I didnt pack a snack.

I'll bring snacks and try to stop somewhere on the route to eat for 30 minutes. If I am asking my guys to work 8,10,12 hour days, then I can't expect them to work nonstop. I think there are workers rights that REQUIRE us to give them breaks. Dave

Heck yeah! It costs almost as much to eat at some trap as it does to eat something with a little quality. If it's something fast, maybe a Sobik's sub or maybe something in the mall.

A king size Pay-Day usually does it for me. I usually dont stop so I can get home to the wife and kid earlier.

I usually do not eat, unless I go eat with my wife.
Most days I am so busy, that I don't think about eating until about 3:30. Then it's too late to eat and I will not be hungry for dinner. So I just wait.

I usually pack a lunch and a couple of snacks for the day. I try to stay away from fast food. Slows me down. I usually stop at a gas station and use the john and then eat between lawns. Gets me home earlier than going to a sit down restaurant.

Starbuck for breakfast.

7-11 for a few death dogs and a bag of hogrinds for lunch.

Since the weather is getting warmer, I typically grill outdoors for the evening meal.
