I just bought an Exmark so I had to go with it.
My second choice would be the Scag.

BOBCAT ZT223 with a 52" deck. Going to be getting one for next year! I am also considering a new TORO Z 593 52" with the 23hp L/C KUBOTA diesel! Not sure yet but I like the adjustable baffles that TORO offers. The diesel is a bit more expensive also.........

Bobcat ZT223,
best cut of any I've tried
Best dealer in the area
pleasant color (I do not like those red mowers, sorry)
nicely priced
smoother than the "Z"

Either Exmark 56" 27HP like John said or a 52" Wright Stander.

I use the Wright Stander,Just orderd a new 52" 23hp i have a 48" 23hp. I like the fact you can jump off to grab trash faster then a rider. Plus i think the stander is a bit better in the wet weather. I tried out all the riders above before i bought the stander and wright was the best.

I voted Exmark because thats what I bought last week (HP 46"deck)
The main reasons are the dealer
1 treats me decent even when I dont buy a new machine and just need some parts(unlike some other dealers)
2 Close to the house
3Getting the customers stuff in/out of the shop
4Having a choice of how I want to pay for it

With light kit, trailer hitch, mulch plate, and a blade buddy and taxes right at 8 grand.

i would really take a look at the scag 52 wildcat with 26 hp liquid cooled or 25 hp air cooled kawasaki. i have had mine now for 2 years and absolutley think that they are best bang for your buck. i know there will be people on here bash them and thats ok it free country. but just compare things like warranty, dealer service after the sell, how well mower is built, weight of mower, speed of blades, ease of maintenance, forward speeds, etc.
in my opinion scag is the best mower you could bye. :)

Idealtim
09-22-2006, 07:24 PM
There is a reason why exmark is expensive;craftsmanship, longevity, customer support, cut quality in extreme conditions and ease of use. What more could you ask for? Scag is also my second.

I've recently looked at Scag, Toro, G-hopper, Kubota and Ferris. I've narrowed my search to Scag, Toro and am leaning toward the Ferris because of the suspension (I'm no longer a pup). I see operators running the Scags wide open and it appears they're getting "beat up" by the mower. Any feedback on the ride of the Scag or Toro after 8 hours in the seat?
