I was wondering what kind of maintanence do you have to do to gear boxes on walk behinds?
Do you have to grease or oil them?
Thanks,

Most gear boxes come with 90wt oil in them. I have 2 Bobcat variable speeds with Dalton gear boxes and we change the oil only once a year. These units only get about 300hrs use apiece each yr and could probably go longer but I don't want moisture causing problems with them. They are also a pain to remove wich you'll need to do to drain all the old oil. Good luck, Russ

I do beleive the overwhelming majority of new mowers today are equiped with Peerless trannys. These trannys do not use oil. They use Bentonite grease but regular grease can be subsituted. Once a year I remove the neutral safety switch from my trannys and put about 45 to 50 pumps of grease in them.
Post which tranny your mower has and we will try to give you the correct service procedures.
