Hello,

I would like your opinions on a 28 HP EFI, does it have enough power for a a 72" Hustler Super Z ? 28 HP is currenty the largest gas engine Hustler puts on there mowers. They are coming out with a 30 HP but it won't be out for a few months. They also offer a 34 hp diesel, it's not alot more HP but it's alot more money. I will be using this to mow about 8 baseball fields.

Thanks

Not sure about the Hustler, But the 72" 28 efi Dixie Chopper has plenty of power.

That 28 EFI is a strong engine.

You should be just fine.

Their older 72" decks are only 69" decks.

So if you're using this mower to mow 8 baseball fields how high do you think the grass will be getting? What I'm trying to say is that it's not like you'll be mowing hay with it. You'll be mowing short grass to begin with. Shouldn't be a problem, IMHO.

I've asked in the Hustler forum on this site about the 28 EFI being strong enough for the 72". He assures me it is plenty because, according to him, their deck drive system doesn't waste as much power as other manufacturers.

The EFI 28 is a strong engine. The EFI prevents the bogging associated with normal carb/governor engines.

I'm wishing Kohler would EFI the new 30hp engine.

Same with all those Big Block Briggs....I'd love for them to be EFI.

I agree, that would be a sweet engine...
