How are you all dealing with the rise in gas prices?

How much extra do you find yourself spending this year compared to last year.

I just bought a 93 chevy 1500 4.3v6 with a 32 gal tank. I just filled it today with 93. OUCH. I think it may be time to think about raising prices a bit.

So far the prices are about like last year, the only difference is, the price increased earlier this spring.

This summer they say the prices will be higher than last year. I heard tonight on the news, crude oil is down 5% in price and they are charging 10% more. Time for someone to do something about this.

We raised all our maintenance prices $1.50/M SF and this will accomodate for the hassels of fuel increases this season.

I have to agree with TJLC that the price of 93 is thru the roof $1.85 gl. on average.

I wish it was that cheap here. $1.89 for 87 here and over $2.00 for 93.

I raised all my customers prices this year and everybody seemed to understand. Everthing is going up we also do roofing and it has gone up 17% because of oil prices. It's everwhere.

You don't really except an Adminstration from Texas to try and do anything about high gas prices do you? I've been watching the barrel prices for years and this price increase in gas is TOTTALLY unjustified. Gas wasn't this high when barrels hit the mid 30's during the 90's Gulf Crisis. Another indicator that it's bull is, widely varying prices from station to station. In Charlotte one station is 1.45 and across the street it's 1.62. When things are calmer you don't normally see variations like that.

87 octane is now at average price of $1.97. By next month, I was told today to expect $2.15

As some of you know, Califonia is experiencing a major utility price spikes and outages. Our local refineries are at capicity, so if one goes down, shortage of gas equals even crazier gas prices. Another problem is rifineries are not considered necessary during rolling black outs of electricity, so they loose production capicity this way also. I do have to say this though, in the U.S., we're spoiled compared to other countries.

I am just sick and tired of these problems. I do not and can not realize what is the problems that the oil companies are facing. I do think the oil companies are shooting themselves in the foot by making excessive profits like they've been doing as of late. Just like electricity, we need gas. So these companies just keep raising and raising prices because they know we'll complain, but continue to purchase these items.

Wait til new epa policies go into effect in your area.(smog and such...) Wish all of you luck with gas prices.

Seems like I read an article in the news about the gas prices being a result of more stringent enviro. regs. That wouldn't surprise me, as there seems to be an agenda to take down IC engines.

I agree that it's time for someone to do s/t about it but guess what? It doesn't rest with the current administration. Or the last one. Or the next one. Let your voice be heard, you are the ruler, they work for you. If enough people let their voices be heard, not only to the gov't but also to the oil co's, there will be a result, I guarantee it.

we have told all our customers in a newsletter in January that we are setting our gas budget at 1.60 average per gallon per year and anticipate normal usage, but will add a fuel surcharge to every bill when the price goes above 1.80 per gallon here.
we have added diesel rigs to our fleet, and have one diesel mower, and the off road diesel for it is running about 1.10 per gallon, and it burns about 1/2 to 1/3 as much as a gas burner. Our diesel isuzus sem to be running about 16 mpg in city, compared to 10 mpg on the gas isuzu. at a 60% savings on fuel, as all prices increase, I don't see how anyone could run a gas burner, knowing that diesels ALSO typically have a higher resale and seem to last longer as well. gas here is still at 1.55 or so for 87. Diesel is LOWER somehow at 1.47 , which is reverse of last year.

Hold on to your gas cans guys, CNN says that by mid to late summer California will be paying over $3.00 a gallon. The East will probably follow suit also. They said that Chicago's gas prices have risen $.43 a gallon within the last month and were still rising.
They claim that last year when there was a shortage in home heating fuel, some of the gasoline plants switched over to help in producing the natural gas. Well, guess what? When they switched over, there became a shortage in gasoline. So, first we had to pay high home gas bills. Now, we are going to pay super high gasoline bills. I wonder if I can hook my trailer up to a bicycle? LOL.

The old refineries are in need of repair out in west Texas and I am sure in other states also. We get to foot the bill for those repairs while the cats get fatter and prices get higher.

Oil companies have large government contracts (billion gallons at X amount) for X years. Exxon-Mobile or Texo-shell says, “Well we can't increase price to government so increase price to public” and here we are getting bit in the a$$ by the tiger.

Happy motoring!
