Does the Toro Z450 series with the 52" deck and the 20hp Kohler have enough power? How well does it cut? What about running a mulch kit on it, will it bog down? Also, Toro owners leave your comments on your equipment please.

I have a 52" 23hp Kohler toro ZTR. Has plenty of power. Have a recycler kit for it, which will bog it down in deep leaves, but I don't believe it has ever stalled. I'd imagine the three horse differance shouldn't make that much differance. The quality of cut is pretty good. I have numerous Toro products and am quite happy with all of them.

my cub tank has a 54" deck and a 24hp honda and i have bogged it down a few times i would think a 20hp 52" would be way under powered.

The Koh 18,20 and 22 are the same block. The 23 is 50cc larger also has a different oil path through the engine. Go with the 23 if possible. Ed

i was wonder how u liked that honda; i know u said you bogged it down; i know from my experience that i would put my 23hp kohler up against that honda anyday and walk all over it; no offence against you; this is about the motor's; i just know that i never had any good luck with the honda and i dont know why? but i do have two kohlers and a 25hp kaw and like them a whole lot better

I have the Toro Z450 with 52" deck and 19hp Kawasaki...which should be similar to the kohler in power.

I mowed with the side discharge all season last year and never had a problem, even with tall wet grass....handled it nicely!

During leaf season, I put on the mulch kit....it did a great job on the leaves...really made quick work of it and looked nice too.

Never had problems with the mulch kit either. I would suggest getting the larger engine if money is no object. However, I dont think youll be disappointed with the smaller one either.
