Aeration shoes

Has anyone seen those aeration shoes u starp on to your shoes as u mow the lawn? There supposed to "aerate the lawn" as u mow it. Id like your feedback if u used them or what u think of them.

Personally I don't think they are any good. IMO they don't really aerate the lawn. To aerate you need to take a plug out of the lawn so that the root system isn't as crowded. It allows the roots to spread, and help retain water rather than running off.

I classify them in the same category as "the garden weasel", or my favorite, "the Claw", that fabulous weed puller can save hours of back breaking work.

Try them on some of this beautiful red clay and see what you think. There is no substitute for core aeration. I have seen guys (not lawn care pros) using their golf shoes to walk behind their lawnboy.
