View Full Version : The 36" Question

How much of an area do you think that you can cut with a 36" W/B in an hour?
Or How long to cut 1/2 an acre with a 36" W/B?

It just so happens I have a Scag catalong sitting right here. According to that, a 36" at 4mph will mow 1.1 acre/hour.

Are you walking or riding a velke?

I am walking right now, I am asking to help make the decision of seasonal pricing and the purchase of a velke. Thanks for the great responses.

I can cut 35 acres an hour with a 21 so you should be able to cut upwards of 50 an hour even with the slowest 36.
Alright, now that I've gotten the bull out of the way regarding productivity...
There are too many variables among individual users, machines and mowing conditions to give you an accurate answer. In my area cutting weekly, during the middle of the season when crabgrass growth is heavy, with wet grass, on a bumpy lawn and cutting the lawn at 2.5 inches you would be lucky to cut 1/2 acre per hour. In perfect conditions you may be able to achieve over 2 acres an hour but how often do we see perfect conditions?
