Maybe this is important enough to be over here in "high traffic"...
Or maybe it is not and belongs over in Landscaping.
But I figure it's not for me to decided and it can always be 'MOVED' so...

I just wanted to share with everyone an e-mail I recieved recently.
Don't know if anyone else got it, but here it is...

Be very careful about buying mulch this year. After the Hurricane in New Orleans many trees were blown over. These trees were then turned into mulch and the state is trying to get rid of tons and tons of this mulch to any state or company who will come and haul it away. So it will be showing up in Home Depot and Lowes at dirt cheap prices.... But with one huge problem; Formosan Termites will be the bonus in many of those bags. New Orleans is one of the few areas in the country were the Formosan Termites have gotten a strong hold and most of the trees blown down were already badly infested with them. So now we may have the worst case of transporting a problem to all parts of the country that we have ever had. These termites can eat a house in no time at all and we have no good control against them, so pass the word to avoid cheap mulch and KNOW WHERE YOUR MULCH CAME FROM!!!

I can't really comment on this one way or the other, but I thought it might be important to share anyways.

All that mulch has supposedly been quarenteed, it was on the news.

There are also cars that sat in the flood areas being sold. They look reconditioned but buyer be wary... (seen it on CNN)

It's not that I don't think it's important, but it's been posted a lot lately, here are a few of the threads.
I believe the first thread I have listed says it is false.

I'm banking on the panic the hoax email promotes to increase mulch sales for us this year. We are advertising locally produced mulch to see if it generates a higher percentage of interest over last season. Sold a lot of mulch last year, and would love to sell a ton more this year payup

I'm not worried........I get dyed, the chemicals and heat from the dye would kill anything if it was living in the mulch. I only buy top-quality locally. I'm not too worried.

BTW....I got the same email, I'd say that the chances of you getting a reconditioned car is more likely than you getting tainted mulch.
