when I turn the key once it sounds like the starter clicks. When I turn the key again to the run position the relay clicks. Can't get her started.

I'm in Lincoln. It was running it december, and got wet during transporting and didn't start. I was thinking it was just a bad relay. I bought it used in december and am selling it now, but trying to get it running. its on ebay.

Tap on the starter with a metal rod or something that will fit down there while turning the key to start.

My starter did that for a whole year, hitting it would start it every time. Only when the starter sat or was in moist area. Would only do it after sitting a while, it would go all day without a prob until you let it sit a while again.

It could be rusting on the inside:cry:

clean your ground connections (battery to frame). check all your wire connections and make sure they are clean, too. can you jump the starter and start it? do you know how to?

thanks for the replys. The wire is all screwy because the previous owner changed the wiring when the 26efi was converted to an air cooled and had a carbarater put on. I will try tapping the starter tomarrow.

Sounds like the solenoid on the starter, about a $100 part.

It definitely sounds like the solenoid. I used to use a (borrowed-when I first took over for my buddy) commercial Dixon ZTR...it had the same problem. What I did was carry a screwdriver to jump the charge on the solenoid. It worked then...until they replaced the solenoid.

May seem so easy .... but is the battery fully charged ....if is the solenoid may need a jump or replace ....

I know you said was converted ...but any EFI should NOT be jumped .... you'll burn out the computer .... if all this was removed than don't worry

Just some advice to those with EFI's

I got her running. It was missing a fuse. I replaced the fuse, and hooked the battery up to a car and she started. Went to the new dealer and got spark plugs, air filters, fuel filter, and oil fiilter. Installed everything and she runs fine now. No smoke, good compesion. The next thing I need to focus on it replacing the gasket on the right blade gear box. Any suggestions.

The old dealer held on the this mower for 3 months and then told me it was no good but for parts. All it took was new sparks, battery, and fuse. They suck!
