I need to lay approx. 150 sq. yds of sod. The sod comes on pallets of 50 yds and is $1.25 a yard. Does the 50 yds that are on the pallet equal 50 linear yds or 50 sq yds. And if it is 50 linear yards, then how do i determine how many pallets i need for 150 sq. yds. Thanks

Usually comes in 500 sq. yards to a pallet...nothing in linear feet where sod is concerned

That would be 500 square feet to a pallet. In some regions they sell it by the square yard because a 9 square foot strip is a good managable size (3x3=9 = sqyd, but cut around 18"x6'). pallets run between 500 and 600 SF depending on the supplier. That fills a palletroughly 4'x4'x4+' high. That is all that will fit.

No one sells it by linear foot.
