1992 powerstroke sitting for a year. I got it running and noticed some oil leaking from where the glowplug is on top of the engine. Is this a bad glowplug or a serious problem? Truck sounds fine otherwise.

uhh, i dunno if this is a problem or not, but if it is a 92 it isnt a powerstroke, it would be an IDI with no turbo. Just a FYI.

Powerstrokes came out in late 94 models, werent called Powerstrokes till 95.
For help with this, go to www.ford-trucks.com..........there are a bunch of forums on there.......scroll down to you find the one for your engine, plenty of help there.

1994.5, like april-may 94, but they still had the old turbo diesel sign on under the F250 or 350. Powerstroke didnt come on them till later in 94 or first of 95. But anyway, we arent answering his question. I would go to www.dieselstop.com and look at the 7.3 IDI forum, post your question on there those guys'll help you out.

Lots of confusion here I see. Mid way through '93 Ford introduced the 7.3 IDI Turbo. In November of '94 the Power Stroke was introduced. The 7.3 IDI non-turbo (170hp) and 7.3 IDI turbo (190hp) were made to the end of the '94 model year. From model year 1995 and on there is only the Power Stroke diesels (215hp). You could get all 3 different engines at the same time. Lots of folks who had just gotten their IDI non-turbos in '93 and early '94 came back in and traded for the new Power Strokes because of the 45hp bump in power.

Is the gasket good behind the glowplug?

I haven't messed with it yet smalltimer just asking for what I should be looking for. Thanks for the info, I just bought new glowplugs for it I've never done them before what should I know? The local auto part stores don't have any diesel repair books, I have a ford truck book but it doesn't help me with this one.

Take your time and make sure you follow the specs (torque specs) listed in the manual that you can get a hold of. A lot of dealers get rid of their manuals older than 10 years since most of them have been put on CD, and you might could check your local dealer to see if they are getting rid of theirs or are willing to let you borrow it long enough to do the plugs.

You say you just bought new glow plugs, i really hope that you didnt get autolite plugs. Get only motorcraft plugs, the autolite ones are JUNK! Once again, visit dieselstop and mention autolite plugs and see what they say about them. Smalltimer, I am pretty sure the PSD was available for most of 94 just because of the fact that we worked on one at school a while back and the door tag was like april or may of 94. There was also a thread about this on dieselstop a while back, seeing who had the oldest PSD. Not that it really matters or anything, but if the truck says Direct Injection Turbo Diesel anywhere on it, it is a PSD, and if it don't then it is a IDI.
