Workmans Comp and DBA's

I am looking to start a LLC company and will need to hire a person who has a DBA set up. Since this person is a DBA do I need to carry workmans comp for him?

When I called the Michigan Worker's Comp Office they told me you need workers comp for ANYONE who is working for you, DBA or not. However, If they have a DBA they can fill out a workers comp exclusion form.
