It's better to have people look at you funny now than to have to look at their hands later.

I do every time I go out. I use AOSafety Work Tunes which has a radio bulit in. Also, they stay on your head while you are moving around. This headset comes in handy since I have some customers that have 27 ac. or more to cut.

I wear the small plugs and they're pretty much invisible. A pain to keep putting in and out but a small price to pay in the long run !!

During the day, when other crewmembers can't stand the level you listen to the radio at, or at night, when you're back home - when you are constantly are turning up the stereo and tv or asking your family for it to be turned up so you can hear it is when wearing ear protection should have been done 5-10 years ago.

i work in a metal stamping plant and have to wear hearing and eye protection everyday, since working there i wear at least hearing protection and generally eye protection anytime im running power equipment, after seeing an employee of mine with a strip of metal stuck in his eye im a believer. also i listen to noise all day long so listening to saws and mowers just bothers me at home.

WHAT???

Yeah, I started a couple years ago using ear plugs. I like the kind with the cord on them, I get about a week or so out of a pair. I bought some peltor work tunes and I just don't like them. Thy don't block nearly as much noise as the earplugs, my mowers are a lot louder than other's I have ran... The radio stations around here are all just far enough away that they wre terribly hard to tune, unless you LIKE country, and I do not! And My eads start to hurt pretty fast and I get a splitting headache from wearing any kind of headphones on my ears. Also when it's hot out they are even hotter...

With all the techonology today I don't see WHY they haven't came out with a pair that have plug ins for hooking them up to a cd player or an I-pod.

To those of you worried about someone looking at ya funny, wait until you are deaf and see how they look at you!

I have a question for those that wear work tunes. Do they get uncomfortable in the summer time? I'm using ear plugs right now but, I'd love to listen to music while I mow and are they really that damn good? I hear the same thing over & over about how good work tunes are.

Thanks
Rob

Always!!! I'm not even a pro-landscaper. I cut about 5-6 lawns a week including my own. I like rock music, I want to still hear it when I'm 64!:headphones:

I wear earphones under earmuff protectors. Don't let your wife know your wearing hearing protection because then you can't lie about having bad hearing later. :headphones:

Wear an mp3 or cd player with Koss earbuds underneath the mickey-mouse ears and you will soon find yourself in your own world, oblivious to everything and everybody (look out for your own customer thou, lol). Better yet, I wear a sports mp3-capable Cd player, 110 songs fit on one cd. Be aware that you can't hear the sound of the motors anymore.

That is what I have always done. Take a look at this thread I started over the winter. http://www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=128423 I'm trying to make the Koss plugs work without the earmuffs. I will start cutting any day now and will be able to put them to the test. Worse case I use the white tips which are much easier to work with and still use the earmuffs.

We use the Elvex brand quiet tunes with the built in radio. Love em. Don't care who looks at us funny. Enjoying the music now and in another 30 yrs also when we can still hear.

We supply work tunes to all our employees and if they last the whole year they get to keep them, now htey head bang and trim to the sound of the beat . the downside is they bop to the beat and have uneven trimming now

Earplugs all day long. wether it be cutting blowing trimming... Definatly we wear eye and ear protection. I don't like headphones to hot and uncomfortable.... I'll tell you one thing that we should all start wearing more is dust masks....

I even wear ear plugs when shoveling rock... And cutting stone with a chisel and hammer... When I'm doing some renovation work (useing saw or just a hammer in general)

Working around aircraft in the Navy taught me the importance of hearing protection at a young age. I wear it when I'm using any power tools. BTW, the plugs can pack the wax in your ears. Keep'em clean.God Bless.:usflag:
