What is the going rate to install a seed lawn for approx. 7000 sq ft.. Install icludes removing dead lawn, amending soil (about 80 yds. loam), grading, fert and seed. Do you guys price by the sq ft or by the job. How many days for a two man crew for this job. Thanks

We price by the square foot. Our rate is $2.78 per sq ft to finish grade, seed, fert, and straw mulch. Probably a two day job for two people.

Does the straw mulch just desintegrate or must you go back to rake it up?

Where in Mass are you? I just bid a similar job at $6500.00. I guess I need to adjust my prices.

Price it at 4 bucks a #.

$4.00 per sq. ft.!!! . At 7000 sq. ft that would be $28,000.00 . HOLY COW!!

With out hourly or square feet pricing per # is profitable.

Straw mulch will degrade / disappear as the grass grows up through it. Or if you're unlucky you get 30 mph wind the day after it's put down and it all blows away.

PennMulch is Heaven!! Anyone using straw should be slapped.. it's full of weed seed anyway.

I agree that Penn Mulch is great. We use straw mulch mainly on larger commercial jobs - 1 acre or more. Most of our residential lawn installs use compost seeding. Compost, seed, fert, and polymer are applied with a blower truck. Rate is about $5.25 per sq ft. Includes temp. automatic watering system, initial mowing, and fert application. Compost is weed free.
