help! fb460v no spark

hi every one im new here, and am trying to start a landscape equipment repair business. Ive got a kawasaki fb460v with no spark. i disconnected the engine harness and still have no spark. so i tried disconnecting the ignitor,still no spark. so alast i took my meter set it to resistance and am getting a reading that the coil lead prong(or whatever that sm wire connects to)is grounded. Probrally a stupid questio but does that mean the coils bad? if not, how do i properly check the coil?
