Seems to me if you were placing an ad you would take the time to take a photo of a lawn you actually mow!
This has been the worse season yet! Only had a few phone calls & I've seen more Murry's than you would imagine, well maybe not!
The thing is, these people probably dont have a picture of a lawn they mow because they have never mowed one!!! More new guys....

I know for a FACT one of them is new. Spoke with him, drives 50 miles to mow 5 lawns, yikes!

That is crazy. It should be on the "Tonight Show". Both companies probably dont mow that property?

When you place a yellow page ad they have books full of pics and graphics to use, and most wont let you use one of your own.

Stock photos and graphics are routinely used in ads. It is a convenient way to have high quality photos. Not agreeing or disagreeing---just the facts!

There are lots of guys up here trying the business also. We have a section in the paper that lists names and numbers and there even are two guys with the same name for the business from different ends of town.
I've seen many Murray/YardMan/Scotts tractor setups rolling around here this year and the phone calls for regular weekly mowing are scarce. I still did good on cleans and dethatchings because those boys havent figured out how to do that yet.

That isn't one of my pictures. One of the members here did find 5 of my lawn pictures on a website in S. Carolina and they said in this website that these were some of the lawns they mow. Can you believe this?
I emailed them and told them to get them off of their site or I would see them in court and they removed them the next day. ;)

We have the paper and phone book full of this... Just another aspect of being a business owner I guess. Still I don't think it's right.....
id like to see a better picture .the stripes look perfect
I sincerely think that eric should take legal action. The person that posted that pic in the yellow book should know that there are serious laws preventing plagerism. If eric does, I wish that he gets what he deserves. He worked hard to make his business a success and someone out there has the balls to print work that ain't even their's.
I support any actions you take eric, and the stripes look good also. :)

I talked with a marketing company that catered to a few specific industries, and chemical lawn care was one of them. They sent me some samples of post cards that they had available, and wouldn't you know it, I got one in the mail a few months later, with a competitors ad on the back of it.
This is not an uncommon occorence.
I firmly believe it is DEAD WRONG to take a picture of someone else's work without asking. I hope that there isn't a few advertising firms that share this pic without permission. They should have to pay dearly for playgerism if that is the case. The pics should be acquired fair and square(with permission and compensation) or not at all.

Speaking of new guys. None of the Hardee's in Rowan County have been mowed yet. The one nearest me has some of it mowed. After I finished mowing Sat. I went to get the wife some mulch and there's this guy mowing the Hardee's. He's got a Snapper pusher with a canvas bagger. This is one of the oldest snappers I've ever seen. Now this grass is pushing 2-3ft high. He was putting the clippings in the back of his 60's Ford pickup, no paint just rust. He's got a beer gut from h#ll and a tight white t-shirt. When I came back by about 20 minutes later he had about another 50 sq. ft done and was emptying the bag again. I actually thought about bidding this job but was talked out of it by someone who knew the last guy who mowed it. It's Tuesday now he's actually got three island areas cut. But nothing in the back and that's probably .25 acre. I have seen more new guys than you can shake a stick at. There have been a lot of plant closings and temp. layoffs in the area and I think that's got alot to do with it. I know there is a least one guy on these boards that is getting cut off from his job soon. I hope he can make a go at it. He trying to do it right or he wouldn't be here trying to learn.

We were in Saginaw today and I couldn't believe all the lawn guys there. One crew cutting around a restaurant with exmark's, a crew with ferris cutting a restaurant across the road ( with a hot looking blond on the crew) and last but not least a guy going thru the bank drive thru with a snapper with collector and a push mower in an old trailer behind a blazer.
While I was waiting for my wife three more crews drove by... Busy spot I guess.
