I just purchased a used Cub Cadet Z-Force 44" and was wondering what I need to do besides change the oil and filters? Is there a way to check the hydro fluid? Is there a tranny filter? Any Suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank You All!

I'm not familiar with the Z-force unit, We sold the Cub Tank. If you post the model AND serial numbers off the unit I may be able to post a link to down-load a owners and or service manual.

Just add oil until it gets to the F mark on the stick.

Sorry Restrorod for jumping out at you! it has a 20 hp Briggs. My main concern is the hydro system. davhul says that you cannot check the fluid. The reason I am concerned is because when you first take off, it is "jumpy", like the hydro is low on fluid. So I guess that there is no way to check the fluid or add fluid if needed then??? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

OK biggin, You can and I did add fluid to a Z-Force last summer that was making noise and jerking. I don't remember what type fluid I added, I need the model and serial numbers off your unit so I can look it up again.

I seen that in your original post, But I have to have the numbers to look it up. As I mentioned we sold the tank so I have no numbers for reference.

I will get them to you asap. By the way, when you say look it up, where are you looking? The service manual says that the hydro's can only be serviced by a dealer.....

I hope you are not planning on doing commercial mowing with that machine. That is strictly a light-duty homeowner machine. If you plan on mowing more than 3 or 4 lawns a week with it, you are in for trouble.

Mowingman, I have heard that before. I cut 12 lawns a week ( biggest is 4 acres) and have yet to have a problem out of this machine.

restrorob...The Model # is 53AA5A6L712 and the Serial # is 0K133Z00004. Hope you can work with that! Thanks Again!

I think you will find those are sealed units, that are not servicable, and do not require oil changes, but I might be thinking of the wrong trans. system. If they are the sealed units, the manufacturer's rated service life is about 500hrs.

OK, This hydro. unit is considered a sealed unit BUT fluid can be added by screwing the vent hose out of the top of the pump (one on each side of the engine). The fluid is CUB part # 737-3120 and the proper level is approximately 1/4" from the bottom of the threads where the vent screws in.
Another thing to keep a eye on is the rear wheel hubs, Make sure they stay tight they are a tapered fit with a woodruff key. I have replaced 2 hubs so far and if ran too long loose can damage the axle shaft.

Sorry it took so long to reply........Thanks for info Restrorob & Mowingman!!! I figured out the problem by accident yesterday while mowing...lmao! It has nothing to do with the hydro's........the freaking drive belt was stretched and needed repaced. Once replaced, problem gone! The dang belt was slipping....EEERRRR!!!! just glad nothing is wrong with the hydro's. I will check the fluid anyway to be safe. Thanks Again Guys!!!
