I looking at a 2000 F-350 XL 4x4 with a V-10. I was wondering if anybody had one and if they liked it and what kind of fuel mileage could I expect. Only has about 80000 miles on it. The truck is an auction comeing up next week I was thinking about maybe biding a maximum of about $15000.00 am I to high or to low on the bid? It's a auto tranny and is 4x4 it has a 11ft flat bed on it but my dump bed off my older truck will fit perfect on it. If you guys can just give some opinions on the subject I would appreciate it.

I have a 2005 4x4 XL with the V-10. I love everything about it except how thirsty it is. I get 10 mpg normal driving, and 7 plowing snow. It has tons of power though ,so towing is no problem.

Well right now I have a F-350 XL with a 460 and it has a Carburetor not fuel injected and I don't think that fuel milage would be much different what do you guys think?

I just bought an 06 V10 after much research. Ford Truck Enthusiasts has a site devoted to the V10 & most of the posters speak very highly of their trucks. Many of them were former diesel owners with bad experiences with the 6.0 powerstroke. The 2000 V10 would have two valves per cylinder. They went to 3 valves around 04 which resulted in a 45hp increase. Still, the V10 has plenty of power for any chore. With the 4.30 rear diff, the new ones are rated to tow the same as the diesels. They are thirsty but thats to be expected with a truck weighing almost 4 tons empty. The diesels MPG has been steadily dropping as well with all the anti pollution crap their installing now.

A 2000 V-10 is of the spark plug spitting variety. Have the heads been replaced? If not and that occurs, you are dancing at a $4,000 fix. Somewhere around 2003-4 they changed heads and supposeldy stopped the problem. Just check it out before buy.
