over seed & over seed again now what

Last fall mid (OCT) i over seeded this guys yard
and core airated, and in (AUG) killed all the weeds
he had a lot. Now this Spring i had to over seed the
lawn again lots of bare spots, we had some rain but not
enought maybe 30 to 40% of the seed is comeing up.Now to
top it off his yard is filling up with weeds, And these
weeds look like what tulips look like when they first come
up. So i killed the weeds last fall over seeded 2 times and
still don't have a very good looking lawn, I fear this guy
might not pay me for the 2nd over seeding cause his yard
still looks like crap, What do i do now???????? HELP

We had an early winter, here in Il., and your seed was put down too late. What happened was winter kill, the new grass that came up was not strong enough to withstand the cold. We have seen it alot in our ball fields and parks. At this point we are slit seeding bare areas and putting down a good started Fert, use a 6-24-24 or 8-32-32.

In our area try to seed between August 15- Sept 15.

did you do a soil test? maybe you are deficient in something? however i do agree with paul about having a harsh winter for new plantings
