Had that happen many times. You would be going by something sticking out and something else gets your attention and then wham. You seem not to hit anything else atleast for a little while.

Geogunn,

Count your blessings...a little lower and can you imagine the damage you could of done to the foundation?

Geo,

I have long legs...fortunately I have always got it in the leg just off center. Have to wear a cup when mowing.

If it happens again and it's lower, let us know and we can send you an ice pack with a Viagra and Miracle Grow poltice. Void where prohibited by law. A handling fee will apply if the poltice is not self applicated.

I had that happen once and it ripped my pants and that day I had no underwear on. LOL. So i ran back to the truck taped up my pants with first aid tape and untuck my shirt and finished the lawn.

I hit a crepe myrtle stump once and the mower came back at me hard enough that it knocked me over the handle bars and on the ground. That was in 97, and I have a 6" scar on my belly and side from that. I had to call my dad to come put the mower back on the trailer. My ribs were bruised bad enough that I couldn't start the engine.

I'm sure glad I don't have a run behind mower. :)

I think the ZTR's are safer when it comes to hitting things.

ive done that a million times myself. one time when i was doing a cleanup, there was this long limb that had fallen, i wanted to break it in half it was too long for the truck. well, this genius decided to lean the branch against the trailer and side kick it to break it, it came flying back at me and busted my head, all the customers neighbors saw me fall on the ground. i barely made it home(dizzy)

Fence posts are great for catching the mowers - I usually get nailed at least 2-3 good times a year. 2 years ago I hit one so hard that it jumped back and broke 2 ribs! Ouch!

I'm just glad that I'm not the only one that put a handle bar in the "tool shed".(not that I want to see anyone get hurt mind you) But it sure is comforting to know that it happens to everyone from time to time. Ya try to shake it off in case any one was watching but you sure do feel like an idiot. Speaking of feeling like an idiot: I love it when I miss calculate a turn or whatever and "grind" a low fixed object in the lawn. That has a real professional sound to it doesn't it? I usually do one good one a season!

I about went over the handle bars one day after I hit a stump in the grass. Thank god for automatic safety shutoffs. Both my hands went forward and my pelvis slammed the bars and my feet kicked up and away I was going untill I caught myself. I could just see myself becoming hamburger under the mower. I looked around to see who was looking and I took a short break intil I could walk upright again. Now I kinda laugh but at the time it was scary as hell. I try to watch out better but it still catches me off guard now and then. Please be carefull.

Beats a trailer handle in the a**! Was standing on the bumper of my truck today, finished and jumped back landing on the crank handle of my trailer.  Needless to say I'm quite sore since all my body weight (220) was coming down. I dread tomorrow, I'm sure it's going to be worse.

ouch!!! ouch!!! ouch!! had that happen to me many a time. first year in lawncare happened to me, and right where it counts!!!! turned off mower, and just laid there for about 5 minutes.

we had a guy who was mowing with our ZT a few years back. He decided to be a "mowing hero" and try to mow a steep slope with it. the mower started sliding, and he went straight through a wooden fence. he was OK, but i can't say the same for the fence!

needless to say, he never again tried to be a "mowing hero" as i like to call it.

Had a guy working for me, he impaled himself on the handle bar in the gut pretty hard, right in front of me. He shook it off after a minute or two. When we got in the truck he said he thought he bruised his uteurus:D 2 great laughs 1 day. To this day we call the gut shot a uteurus shot.

Man................I just thought I wanted a walk behind, now I'm not so sure I need one!

Sorry about the jack/ass thing Ray.

I looked kinda foolish the other day when I was trimming a curb---not watching where I was going. I was stopped by a stop sign in the forehead.............I had that puppy flexed to, I hit it on the fly!

Didn't hurt but the timing was great, there was a car coming up to the stop and I know they had to see me. Dang near threw me backwards.

Have a good friend that was unhooking his little trailer from his truck one day. :D
When he pulled the tongue off the ball the little short trailer flew up and heart punched him:D ............he had to crawl to the backyard all the while looking to see if somebody was watching.:D . I love to hear him tell that story..................threw him flat on his back..................said he couldn't breath .

Funny as heck..I'm LMAO just thinking about it!

I had a 48" exmark that the safety cutoff switch was not working. I stopped to pick up som trash about 15 feet from the mower. When I turned around the mower had taken off towards a large creek that was lined with big rocks. I couldnt catch it in time and it went over the bank and doen the rocks about 8-10 feet and jammed solid. I ended up driving my truck down thru the yard and using it to pull it back up.

Now that is funny!
Last year I bought a new pair of boots. They were a little bit thicker than my old ones. When I went to pick up a stick in front of me my left foot got stuck in the jungle wheels. Unforntunatly I didn't realize this until I had already taken a step. Ended up flat on my back!. That sucked. :D

The handle bar to the gut or the lower torso, is mighty painful. I really hate it when you are near something at handlebar level and you rake your knuckles and fingers as well as the top of your hand. Now that really smarts too. LOL, gotta carry a first aid kit in my truck for me. Thank God I am a paramedic too, LOL:)

Vintage,
Let me make sure I got this right. You go commando when you're out mowing? Man that's strange. You might get a rash. Keep some corn starch in your toolbox okay?
