solid base for pavers on raised deck

I plan to construct a small (apx. 150 sq.ft.) raised deck from block with a paver floor. My question is, how should i backfill behind the block(about 5 courses) so that i have proper drainage, but still get a solid base for pavers? Thanks for your help.

I would use the same material 3/4 crush that you use for your patio base ... if the whole area is covered with pavers and you have your 2% slope away from the house water should not be an issue.
