newbie part-timer question

Hey

I'm an underpaid full-time journalist trying to make some cash on the side. I have two questions for the pros regarding starting my own part-time lawn care operation.

1. how long does it take to mow a 2-acre lawn with a 48" walk behind mower (+ weedwhacing and blowing)? how long for the same size lawn with a 21"?

2. would you recommend to a newbie part-timer dropping the dough on a $1000 48" (cause it will save me time and a lot of effort presumably), or should i get a quality $500-$600 21" mower, since i'll only have time for a very limited # of lawns per week?

i figure with the 48" i can easily do at least 1 lawn per day, maybe 5 on the weekends.

please let me know if i'm just ignorant of the business. any help greatly appreciated.

Lots will vary on time you can service them. If they are flat and wide open then you may be in and out in 1 hr. if same size but obstacles and more trmming equals more time. So I guess to answer your question depending on lot lay out and trimming figure 1.25 hours to 2.25 hours for 2 Acres.

You best stick with a 48", it's going to save you a lot of time.
