advertise to grow

Fairly new to the business, I just hired someone because I am so busy. However I want to make sure that we have plenty of work. I have never advertised before and am wondering what has worked for you guys. I am thinking about picking out jobs that look good and sending a letter to the owners to let them know about my company. Any advice would be appreciated!

Put your self in a local news paper, this has worked best for me.

Start with small little local papers, ones that are free, that arent delivered, just distributed at grocery stores and such are a good place to start. Just have to try and see, different things work for different people, and areas. Flyers work great for me, but some people say they are worthless, so you just have to experiment, and see what works for you, and the area your in.
