Hi Everybody! Just wanted to take a minute and introduce myself. I am new
to this forum but not new to the business. I have been doing lawn care for
26+ years and have been in Springfield for 6 1/2 years of it, Wichita Kansas
for 7 years and Houston Texas for the rest of the time. I started out at 12
years old with my brother going neighbor to neighbor with a push sickle mower (read this as no gas, all muscle) at $5.00 a yard. People moaned about the price even back then. I mowed my father's gas station, a old Sinclair gas station.
I have been running my own business for the last 14 years. I have chosen to work in Springfield as a one man band. I have seen many companies come and go. The one thing that I have noticed is that the new ones come up with all new "everything" and lots of debt. They either price themselves out of the local market or lowball and are unable to pay the debt that they accrued.
I have enjoyed this series of forums!! If anyone needs information I would be
very happy to help!
I have ran just about every machine out there and do all of my own maintenance on them.
I am very lucky to be here. At the age of 40, 1 year ago I had quadruple bypass surgery. The doctor gave me 30+ years now! I have some heart damage so I cannot work as hard as I use to. But I can still work other people under the table! I was able to recover and I am now back at the business full time. I only lost one customer over it. (believe it or not he was a doctor...) I had two other small lawn businesses that helped me out during
my recovery. It pays to network and to be friendly. There is plenty of work out there and there is no sense in getting up in arms about new people.
Oh, by the way, I am very heavy into the Mopar Cars and I really love what I do for a living!! I will do this until the day that I die!
Sincerely, Stan :blob2:
