Found a 2002 Sportsman 4x4 500 Remington edition for sale the other day. The guy wants $4,650.00 for it. Only 38 hours on the ATV and it looks like it came out of the showroom. It's in Mint condition!

Good price? How are Polaris Sportsman rated?

I have 2 sportsman's, a 2002 400 and a 2004 600 twin. I've had good luck with them.

Seller wants to trade 2 atvs Suzuki 300 4x4 and Artic Cat 375 4x4 w/ trailer and a restored 1969 Chevy C/10 stepside with a 396 plus 15k in cash for a 1968 Camaro ss/rs convertible I will be selling soon. Then he mentioned the Polaris and a 1987 vett convertible. I think I'm just going to sell the camaro outright, but I'm interested in buying the Polaris 500. The other 2 ATVs are in excellent shape also. 300 hours on them $3250 for the Suzuki and $3650 for the AC. The AC drove nice.

Thanks for the replies.

I've not bought ATv's for close to 4 years now, but I gotta say that seems like more then a 2002 is worth. By quite a bit. Me thinks the seller is basing it on hours, not age. I understand and all, but it's still an older design. more recent ATV's have had much better suspensions and power upgrades.

Heavy is a mild under statement, and I always felt the polaris stuff was weak rear axles and transaxles. But my treatment of ATV' and yours are going to be quite different (I do have a scrambler, but that's as close to a utility machine as I get). All in all, I've sold many on the polaris, but mostly on the easy to use PVT. If you can shift I'd look for a honda or yam.

I've personally not seen much demand for the suzi and never even seen an AC

I paid $5000.00 for my 400 in 2002, I can't remember what the 500's were going for, think around 5600 up here. I'd check on the price, low hours but its a 2002. I don't think the suspension has changed much, the 2002 is just like my 2004, only the 2004 has no grease zerts in it. Check out NADA or KBB for a price.

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking at some ATV's by Honda. Using Honda engines in the landscape field, I don't see how I could go wrong with one of their toys.
