Installing an hourmeter

I just bought an hour meter, which fits the punched hole perfectly. It says to get an accurate reading, ground the negative and attach the positive to the positive cable coming from the alternator.

What color wire is the pos alt wire. Someone told me it only has to wrap the exterior of the alt wire? Is this true?

Also, the wire coming from the user console had a wire with a plastic quick connecter clip that wasn't connected. What is that? It looks like it would be for an hourmeter. Thanks in advance for the help.

Is this a Hustler hour meter kit?
Doesn't sound like it.
The Hustler kit has the connection to plug directly into the wiring harness.
The hour meter connection is under the seat plate to the rear, on the right side of the tractor, as if you were sitting on it.
I am not sure on the alternator wire colors and such.
