I'm not a Chevy fan, but that isn't the point here. Always, if you can afford it go with bigger/more power. Its better to have too much and not need it, than to have to little and not have it. Just my 2 cents.

True the worst thing in this biz,is to buy some thing and not be pleased with it.

Definately get number 2. You'll be a lot happier with it than a gasser.

DURAMAX is the way to go

I am not a Chevy fan, but given these choices, Duramax. Even my wife, who HATES the sound and smell of a diesel, missed it when pulling any of our trailers large or small. And honestly, the engine is well built, and the Allison transmission.........well being a Ford guy I won't be to nice, it would look bad.

How many miles per year will you be driving?

I have a 6.0 and love it. If I had the money to trade or have a 6.6 Duramax then i would take it in a heart beat over the 6.0 the Duramax and Allison is a way better set up and the mileage is better too. get the diesel

When I bought my '05 2500HD, I got the 6.0 and couldn't be more pleased. Since I rarely tow more than 5K and drive less than 10K a year, I couldn't justify the extra $8000 for the Duramax. However, if I towed the kind of loads you do any distance, I'd go for the diesel.
