Ya'll sure this is the business to be in? I think tire sales might be more profitable!

I WISH I had that problem. I got t-boned right in the middle of my front bumper Friday (5-11) morning by a jap car. All she did was bend up the front bumper but her car didn't fair so well.

I remember an employee returning to my home with a tire on the tandem that was completely shredded, nothing left but a 2" bead, on each side of rim. no tread, sidewall. he was on gravel at first, and said he didn't notice, and then went to first jobsite. The tire shop had to cut the rings off with an acetylene torch ! Dave

Doesn't it seem as though when the technology is there to document these things, they happen more often!
:)
The man upstairs is justing testing you! It can only get better brother!
I had that happen. Shredded the tire so bad that they had to cut it off. I got cut off once and hit a curb dead on. One loud bang.(needed rim too). The tail lights are right next to the back tires, so It got busted as well.

If the tire is salvagable, is it possible to take it off and limp back on 3 wheels to a service station or shop?

No, you would have to take the other side off to balance the axle out..............unless you could chain the flat side up. I had to do this once and run on one axle until I could find a tire shop.
Me a tires go back a long way!
Carry a spare and a good jack..................always!

That tire is impressive but I want to see the pic of you with a face full of grass after you fire up that little Murray rear discharge walk behind!:p
That makes sense homer. I remember my trailer bouncing a little when I blew a tire. I looked at the suspension and both leafs are hooked to one pivot point.
